Buttock Augmentation in Houston
Both men and women alike seek out buttocks augmentation surgery, and the recent trend is expected to continue. The procedure includes autologous fat transfer or implants that create a fuller figure. Depending on your body type, this treatment may be the best solution for creating curves and establishing better body balance.
Am I Qualified for Butt Enhancement?
Although augmentation surgery is more common among women, the procedure is surging among men as well. In 2013, buttocks augmentation procedures increased in popularity by a staggering 58 percent. Both genders want to feel confident in the shape of their bodies, although women are more likely to also ask for a curvier figure to achieve a certain silhouette.
But lift, fat transfer, and/or augmentation procedures are best pursued by people who:
- Can’t achieve the results they want through diet and exercise alone
- Seek a balanced, proportionate look
- Want fuller or more projected buttocks
- Desire a sculpted buttocks
- Need to correct asymmetry between buttocks
- Are healthy and have the proper amount of time to recover
- Have realistic expectations
Schedule an initial consultation with board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Chris Livingston to will help you determine whether you qualify as a candidate and which of the available options best suit your needs.
The Buttocks Augmentation Procedure
The chosen surgical technique and method of enhancement depend on numerous factors that vary from patient to patient, such as:
- Skin type and elasticity
- The presence of excess skin
- Whether liposuction is necessary
- Desired results
The two most popular procedures are implants or butt lifts with an analogous fat transfer. During the fat grafting technique, the new shape is created from processed fat taken from other parts of the body using liposuction. Implants require incisions and placement of silicone prosthetics. Both create fuller looks, but patient anatomy and goals dictate which technique is ideal.
Incisions are made along the natural crease between the two hemispheres to minimize visible scarring, though alternate sites at the top or bottom of the buttocks may be used. Once the procedure is complete, the implants themselves will rest between the pelvic bone and the gluteal muscle.
Implants work best for individuals who desire a more rounded appearance or who lack the body fat necessary for a lift procedure.
Brazilian Butt Lifts
Analogous fat – or fat that has been removed from other regions of the same body – is liposuctioned. It is then injected into the buttocks; the treatment sites may be obscured by swimsuits and clothing. The fat is layered slowly and carefully until the desired shape has been achieved.
Buttocks lifts, also known as Brazilian butt lifts, are usually performed on patients who need more reshaping and sculpting rather than rounding. Individuals who have lost significant weight prior to the procedure, for example, typically benefit from this approach rather than an implant.
Ensuring Safe and Effective Butt Enhancement
It needs to be noted that some plastic surgeons purport to offer silicone injections as an option for buttocks augmentation. These are unsafe and must be avoided at all costs. A licensed, board-certified professional will only perform the two approaches described above, which are known to be safe and healthy. The best results are always the ones that leave patients with the highest possible peace of mind when it comes to their overall well-being.
Results of your Butt Lift and Augmentation
As with all cosmetic surgery, patients will have to spend time off their feet in order to fully recover. Recovery takes about three to four weeks, and results may not completely make themselves apparent for a time — anywhere from two weeks for lifts involving liposuction fat to three months for implants. Scarring is minimized through efficient surgical techniques and easily obscured.
Patients usually return home a few hours after surgery. Support garments are almost always required to help the body adjust to its new shape. Dr. Livingston will outline how long they will need to be worn, though it’s usually two to three weeks for both implants and fat transfers. Failure to do so may create shifting in buttocks shape; individuals who have undergone fat transfers are most at risk.
Swelling and bruising are all normal elements of the recovery process. It may take weeks for these to fully heal but they should not be interpreted as a sign of injury or that the procedure failed. Follow the post-op instructions provided by Dr. Livingston’s office to make a full and timely recovery.
