What Can I Expect Before, During, and After My Procedure?

While each patient will have a customized procedural plan, each operation generally involves the following steps:

Before

First, you will arrive at the facility, check-in, and then meet with Dr. Livingston. After greeting you, he will assess and mark you while you’re standing to see the lifted position of the nipple on the breast. You will then be anesthetized and taken back to the operating room for surgery.

During

Dr. Livingston will create an incision around the areola that extends down the front of the breast. He will lift and reshape each breast and then carefully place the implant. If necessary, he will adjust your areolas to the correct position on your breasts. Dr. Livingston will conclude the operation by closing the incisions with stitches or surgical tape.

After

What Can I Expect After a Breast Augmentation with a Lift?

As with any surgical procedure, you can expect some amount of discomfort while recovering, especially in the first day or two following surgery. Dr. Livingston can prescribe pain medication if necessary. Due to the implants, you will see a noticeable increase in breast size right away.

Patients can go back to work after a few days of recovery, provided Dr. Livingston has removed the dressings; swelling usually subsides in two to four weeks. It may take one to three weeks to see the final shape of the breast because of the normal swelling. After three or four weeks, it is possible to resume exercise. Scars may take up to a year to fade and flatten.
