Breast Augmentation With Lift

Breast Augmentation with lift in Houston, TX with Dr. Livingston

Dr. Christopher Livingston M.D., F.A.C.S., P.A. is a breast augmentation specialist, attracting patients from all over the Houston metropolitan area, Pearland, The Woodlands, and Sugar Land.

Of the specific types of breast enhancement, Dr. Livingston is skilled in performing augmentations in conjunction with lift procedures. This treatment enhances the size and shape of the breasts simultaneously by removing the excess skin that causes sagging and finishing off with an implant.

A breast augmentation with lift is an excellent option for women looking to both restore the fullness of their breasts and correct sagging. Dr. Livingston frequently performs this procedure on women who have had children and dislike the changes that pregnancy and breastfeeding caused their breasts.

WHAT IS BREAST AUGMENTATION WITH LIFT?

A breast lift, or mastopexy, provides a more youthful, perky appearance, but does not add volume to the breast; by contrast, a typical breast augmentation can increase size and fullness but does not address the sagging that develops over time. This dual procedure provides the best of both worlds, giving patients a more proportionate, curvaceous appearance and lifting breasts back to their desired location.

Breast augmentation with lift is frequently performed on patients who have had children and dislike the changes that pregnancy and breastfeeding caused their breasts. Women request the surgery because their breasts have started to droop and change as a result of pregnancy and breastfeeding, weight fluctuations, heredity, or aging, or because they are simply not pleased with their original size and shape. As we age, our skin naturally becomes less elastic, and a variety of factors may further contribute to breasts developing a slack appearance. The nipples may also start pointing downward or away from one another. This comprehensive treatment repositions the breasts for aesthetic appeal and symmetry in a manner that complements the rest of your figure.

Excellent doctor, very professional, extremely knowledgeable. Dr. Livingston and his staff go beyond the call of duty in every aspect of the patient visit. I would highly recommend him!

HOW DOES THE PROCEDURE WORK?

There are three different ways your board-certified plastic surgeon may perform the lift part of the augmentation: by removing tissue around the areola (periareolar lift); around the areola and vertically down to the breast crease (vertical lift); or around the areola, down the breast, and horizontally to the breast crease (anchor lift). Depending on the patient’s breast size, shape, skin type and condition, and other factors, Dr. Livingston will choose the method best suited to achieve optimal results for each woman. The implants used may be either saline or silicone gel, and come in either a round or an anatomical shape. During the consultation process, Dr. Livingston will discuss the merits of each and come to a decision with you about what type of implant best meets your unique set of needs.

During the lift and augmentation procedure, Dr. Livingston will remove excess skin and tissue will be removed, and he may reduce the areolas to make them more proportionate to the size of the breasts. Patients with a condition called breast ptosis have enlarged or stretched areolas, and reshaping them enhances their overall appearance. He places sutures deep inside the layers of the breast to support their weight and maintain the desired position – sort of like wearing a bra on the inside. Next, he inserts implants inside the breasts to provide fullness and symmetry. Finally, he will close the incisions with sutures, and wrap in compression bandages to aid healing and reduce swelling in the immediate post-surgical period.

I believe that every design is personal. The connection we have with clients determines how the projects will look at the end of the design process. We must understand the clients and bond with them, be a part of their dream. Their dream is our dream.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER YOUR SURGERY

As with any surgical procedure, you can expect some amount of discomfort while recovering, especially in the first day or two following surgery. Dr. Livingston can prescribe pain medication if necessary. Due to the implants, you will see a noticeable increase in breast size right away.

Patients can go back to work after a few days of recovery, provided Dr. Livingston has removed the dressings; swelling usually subsides in two to four weeks. It may take one to three weeks to see the final shape of the breast because of the normal swelling. After three or four weeks, it is possible to resume exercise. Scars may take up to a year to fade and flatten.

BREAST AUGMENTATION WITH LIFT FAQs

Most women find that the results of breast augmentation with lift last for years. The longevity of your results will depend in part on whether you maintain your weight or have children in the future. Significant weight fluctuations or pregnancy and breastfeeding can change the size and shape of the breasts and cause the tissue to stretch and sag. Breast implants typically last for 10 years or more, but will eventually need replacement or removal, most often due to leakage.

The surgery involved in raising the nipple in a breast lift, can, in a small percentage of cases, affect the ability to breastfeed. Dr. Livingston performs the combined procedure with the utmost care to prevent nerve damage to the areola and to minimize the risk of future breastfeeding problems. Studies have shown that implants do not affect the quality of breast milk. If this is a concern for you, be sure to bring it up in your consultation with Dr. Livingston.

As with all surgeries, you will have a scar at the incision site. Dr. Livingston chooses the locations for the incisions to make the scars easy to conceal, even when wearing a swimsuit or other warm-weather attire. Scars are most visible during the first few months of healing, then gradually fade to become almost invisible. In your consultation, Dr. Livingston will discuss the approach that will give you the best results with the least amount of scarring.

Absolutely. You will already be combining two breast enhancement procedures, but you can also add others for a more comprehensive rejuvenation. A mommy makeover is a general term for such combinations, which can include a tummy tuckliposuction, or facelift.

Health insurance companies consider breast augmentation with lift surgery to be a fully elective procedure, and will not cover the costs of the procedure. However, if you lack the funds to pay in full, we offer great financing options.
