Breast Augmentation

Patients may elect to have a breast augmentation to enlarge or correct a loss of volume following pregnancy or to improve breast asymmetry. During breast implant surgery, a saline or silicone implant is placed under the breast tissue or the chest muscle through an incision made under the breast, around the nipple or under the arm.

Breast Lift

A breast lift, or mastopexy, is an outpatient surgical procedure that removes loose skin, repositions the nipple/areola, and re-shapes the breast and can be combined with an implant if additional volume is necessary per the patient’s request. Since the procedure only removes the excess skin and repositions the nipple-areolar complex to maintain the natural shape of the breast, it should not be confused with a breast reduction.

Breast Augmentation With Lift

A breast lift, or mastopexy, provides a more youthful, perky appearance, but does not add volume to the breast; by contrast, a typical breast augmentation can increase size and fullness, but does not address the sagging that develops over time. A breast augmentation with lift provides the best of both worlds, giving patients a more proportionate, curvaceous appearance and lifting breasts back to their desired location.

Breast Revision

Breast Augmentation Revision is performed after a patient has undergone breast augmentation surgery, where silicone or saline implants are inserted to increase the size and improve the shape of the breasts. Over time, breast implants may need to be replaced due to any number of factors.

Breast Reconstruction

Breast reconstruction is necessary following breast cancer surgery where the breast is removed during a mastectomy. Breast reconstruction typically involves multiple surgeries using tissue expanders to expand the breast skin prior to implant placement or a patient’s own tissue that rebuilds the breast mound.

Breast Reduction

Breast reduction, or reduction mammoplasty, can alleviate the painful symptoms related to large and heavy breasts. Back, shoulder and neck pain associated with bra-strap grooves and skin irritation can be a constant source of pain. Breast reduction surgery typically removes excess skin and breast tissue, repositions the nipple-areola complex and reshapes the breasts to a more youthful appearance.

Gynecomastia

Gynecomastia is the benign enlargement or overdevelopment of male breasts caused by certain medications, a hormonal imbalance, or significant weight gain or loss. The procedure removes fat and/or glandular tissue from the breasts through either liposuction or direct excision (via an incision) within the nipple-areola complex. In extreme cases, excess skin is removed to produce a flatter and firmer chest.
