In an effort to help reduce the signs of aging apparent through the face, Dr. Livingston offers brow lift surgery. Also known as “forehead-plasty,” treatment is capable of correcting a variety of imperfections throughout the upper half of the facial region. Your procedure can do all of the following:

Reduce creases along the forehead, between the eyes, and above the nasal bridge
Improve frown lines that may be present between the eyebrows
Reposition a brow that may be sagging onto the upper eyelids
Raise the eyebrows to a higher, more alert position
Correct eyebrow asymmetry
Correct minor upper eyelid sagging and loose skin

BROW LIFT PROCEDURAL STEPS

Offering both intravenous sedation and general anesthesia, the patient will be placed in a pain-free setting during his or her procedure.

Incisions will be created using one of two different techniques. Your surgery may be performed endoscopically through small incisions within the hairline. Through this method, muscle and tissue can be removed, repositioned, or altered with the use of special devices placed into the incisions to reduce the creases in the forehead.

Incisions in the scalp, temples, and upper eyelids may also be created to correct a sagging brow, frown lines between the eyes, and wrinkles on the nasal bridge. Scars will be minimal with this procedure.

Alternatively, a coronal brow lift may also be suggested to target the specific areas of the brow to be corrected. By creating an incision within the scalp and from ear to ear, the forehead can be lifted by removing the excess skin from the scalp. Although recovery time may be longer, areas that are more bothersome can be precisely corrected.

After the brow is sculpted, incisions will be closed with removable or dissolvable sutures, special clips, and/or surgical tape.

To uphold the results, Dr. Livingston may also suggest small surgical screws, permanent sutures, or an absorbable fixation device placed unnoticeably by each temple.

THE RESULTS OF A BROW LIFT

Post-operatively, the patient’s head will be wrapped with compression bandages and gauze to help reduce initial swelling. Healing on the wound will take from five to ten days, during which the sutures and or/ clips will be removed from the incision.

Swelling will diminish after several weeks, although it may take months to see the final results of brow lift surgery. Afterward, patients can look forward to a more refreshed appearance that will leave them looking years younger.
