In an effort to help reduce the signs of aging apparent through the face, Dr. Livingston offers brow lift surgery. Also known as “forehead-plasty,” treatment is capable of correcting a variety of imperfections throughout the upper half of the facial region. Your procedure can do all of the following:

  • Reduce creases along the forehead, between the eyes, and above the nasal bridge
  • Improve frown lines that may be present between the eyebrows
  • Reposition a brow that may be sagging onto the upper eyelids
  • Raise the eyebrows to a higher, more alert position
  • Correct eyebrow asymmetry
  • Correct minor upper eyelid sagging and loose skin

Brow lift surgery offers a long-lasting solution to aged skin and is commonly performed on patients who are displeased with the wrinkles and droopiness of the upper portion of their face. As rejuvenation for the upper area of the face, your treatment can also be combined with a number of other procedures, such as facelift surgery (“rhytidectomy”), eyelid surgery (“blepharoplasty“), and skin care, including laser resurfacing and chemical peels.

Whether you may need a brow/forehead lift alone or in conjunction with a variety of procedures, Dr. Livingston will thoroughly assess your concerns and help you decide the proper course of action to reach your goals.

Dr. Livingston is an amazing surgeon, with a phenomenal bedside manner, and office staff you’ll fall in love with.

Offering both intravenous sedation and general anesthesia, the patient will be placed in a pain-free setting during his or her procedure.

Incisions will be created using one of two different techniques. Your surgery may be performed endoscopically through small incisions within the hairline. Through this method, muscle and tissue can be removed, repositioned, or altered with the use of special devices placed into the incisions to reduce the creases in the forehead.

Incisions in the scalp, temples, and upper eyelids may also be created to correct a sagging brow, frown lines between the eyes, and wrinkles on the nasal bridge. Scars will be minimal with this procedure.

Alternatively, a coronal brow lift may also be suggested to target the specific areas of the brow to be corrected. By creating an incision within the scalp and from ear to ear, the forehead can be lifted by removing the excess skin from the scalp. Although recovery time may be longer, areas that are more bothersome can be precisely corrected.

After the brow is sculpted, incisions will be closed with removable or dissolvable sutures, special clips, and/or surgical tape.

To uphold the results, Dr. Livingston may also suggest small surgical screws, permanent sutures, or an absorbable fixation device placed unnoticeably by each temple.

Post-operatively, the patient’s head will be wrapped with compression bandages and gauze to help reduce initial swelling. Healing on the wound will take from five to ten days, during which the sutures and or/ clips will be removed from the incision.

Swelling will diminish after several weeks, although it may take months to see the final results of brow lift surgery. Afterward, patients can look forward to a more refreshed appearance that will leave them looking years younger.

Livingston Plastic Surgery: Houston Brow Lift FAQs

Every brow lift is unique and tailored to your individual needs, aesthetic goals, and facial anatomy. We will give you an accurate estimate for your customized surgical plan at your consultation.

While brow lift techniques can provide long-lasting results, they cannot stop the natural aging process, so your brows may droop again over time. If you choose, you can opt for a follow-up procedure at that point.

A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association indicated 93% of patients were happy with their brow lift results and would recommend the procedure.

A mini brow lift is a less invasive technique that employs two incisions to lift skin off the forehead and elevate the brow area and the forehead.

A brow lift may cause some headache-like discomfort for the first few days after surgery. This pain is typically not severe, and you can manage it with OTC medications.

There is no straightforward answer to this question, because no two patients age in the same way. Some show significant signs of facial laxity in their 30s, while others maintain excellent skin elasticity into their 60s.

If you begin to notice an increase in fine lines and wrinkles on your forehead, or if your eyebrows seem to sag, it could be time to consider a brow lift. While this procedure also improves the appearance of sagging upper eyelids to some extent, you may wish to add an eyelid lift to your personalized surgical plan.

A brow lift is a safe and effective cosmetic enhancement, but like all surgeries, it poses some risks – including scarring, brow asymmetry, hair loss, and changes in skin sensation.

Yes. A sagging brow often pushes upper facial skin onto the brow ridge, creating a hooded appearance. A brow lift can fix this.
