I believe that every design is personal. The connection we have with clients determines how the projects will look at the end of the design process. We must understand the clients and bond with them, be a part of their dream. Their dream is our dream.

For some patients, the signs of aging may first become apparent throughout the neck, making them appear older than they are. In order to alleviate these signs and to help patients attain the younger look they are seeking, Dr. Livingston offers neck lift surgery (platysmaplasty) in Houston.

Treatment can be helpful for those patients who may be dissatisfied with a variety of imperfections throughout their neck region, such as:

  • Excess skin
  • Excess fat
  • Wrinkling
  • Loose neck muscles
  • Asymmetry

Whether it is due to factors that include aging or extreme weight loss, a neck lift can rejuvenate and tighten the soft tissue, leaving patients looking as young as they feel.

For patients experiencing severe signs of aging, your cosmetic surgery can be performed in combination with a variety of other procedures, such as a brow lifteyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), and a facelift (rhytidectomy). By thoroughly evaluating your concerns, Dr. Livingston will be able to suggest the best course of action to suit your goals.

General anesthesia is usually provided during treatment. Dr. Livingston will begin your procedure by creating incisions behind the ears and/or beneath the chin in which excess skin and fat will be removed. The neck muscles (platysma) may also be released and/or altered to help achieve a tighter neck appearance. When the neck sculpting is completed, Dr. Livingston will then proceed by redraping the skin in its new position and closing the incisions behind the ears and/or beneath the chin with sutures.

Typically, the surgery will last anywhere from two to three hours or longer, should the patient choose to have other procedures performed as well.

After surgery, the patient will be placed in dressings and a compression garment that will support the new position of the neck muscles and prevent bruising and swelling. In some cases, drains may be placed that require removal within several days along with the postoperative bandages. Sutures will usually be removed within seven to 10 days and the compression garment worn at night for four weeks.

Patients are able to return to work within one week but full unrestricted physical activity is typically not reinstated until six weeks following surgery to allow proper time for the incisions to heal. After the swelling and bruising resolve, the patient will be left with a more youthful-looking neck. With results from the procedure being long-lasting, patients can look forward to a renewed appearance. Although neck lift surgery cannot stop the effects of aging, it can turn back the clock and help patients achieve an improved appearance.

Fabulous! Love Dr.Livingston and his whole crew. Thank you so much for your care.

Livingston Plastic Surgery: NECK LIFT FAQS

Dr. Livingston and our team of neck lift surgery experts share answers to some of the questions you might have if you’re thinking about a neck lift in Houston.

In general, most of our neck lift patients enjoy a renewed appearance for about 10 to 15 years. You can increase your results’ longevity by taking good care of your skin, wearing sunscreen daily, and avoiding unnecessary environmental damage like sitting out in direct sunlight for too long.

Neck lift surgery by itself usually takes about two to three hours, but patients looking for a broader total facial rejuvenation may combine it with a facelift or other facial plastic surgery procedures. Additional surgeries may increase the total time spent under anesthesia by at least one or two hours, depending on the treatment plan.

The cost of your neck lift surgery will depend on many factors, making it hard to peg down an average price tag for every situation. However, recent data gathered by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and fees examined by our practice suggest the average Houston neck lift cost will be about $5,200. Factors affecting the total price may include anesthesia fees, testing, post-surgery supplies, and prescriptions.

There is no ideal age for a patient to have a neck lift, although the average age many people consider having one is about 40. In general, it’s best to get one earlier when skin starts becoming saggy and loose because the results from surgery may be more apparent and last a longer time.
