Can Fillers Delay a Blepharoplasty?
In our experience, many patients seek the results of plastic surgery for aesthetic improvements but are hesitant to pull the trigger when it comes to having the surgery. That’s understandable since surgery is a serious decision.
With non-surgical treatments trending at plastic surgery centers in Houston and across America, it’s no wonder the eyes are getting more attention with minimally-invasive procedures. Although blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) produces wonderful results in resolving drooping eyelids and undereye puffiness, there is a temporary fix for patients not ready for surgery.
Liquid Eye Lift
Realizing surgical results at the end of a 30-minute treatment session may seem too good to be true – but it’s not. With the use of our Juvederm family of dermal fillers, we can restore your eye beauty by resolving wrinkles and adding volume to undereye voids.

Tear Throughs
Juvéderm filler injections are great treatment for tear troughs which are puffy and give you the appearance of always being tired. After the age of 30, the grooves under your eyes along their rims can become void and hollow. This problem may result in undereye circles with dark shadows, a swollen effect, and a tired expression.
Juvederm
This injectable filler consists of the natural ingredient hyaluronic acid which is crucial for maintaining skin hydration and volume. Medicine has been using hyaluronic acid to treat wounds and relieve joint pain for decades. As a filler, hyaluronic acid was first used in Europe in 1996 to augment facial tissue.
Juvederm Usage
- Resolve vertical lines between the brows
- Resolve undereye hollows
- Reduce marionette lines
- Plump up folds which run from the corners of the mouth to the bottom of the nose
- Smooth acne scars
- Enhance thin or aging lips
It’s Not Permanent
Although you may dodge surgery with the temporary results of dermal fillers for some time, eventually the fat accumulation will become too much to camouflage. Then it will become time to consider having eyelid surgery.
One overriding benefit of blepharoplasty is the results will last a lifetime. Although eyelid surgery will not stop the natural aging process, your eyes will be reset to its youthful appearance and begin to age from there. You can continue to enhance results with dermal fillers over time or repeat the surgery when necessary.
Facial Fat Transfer
Because undereye hollows are the result of lost volume natural to the aging process, replacing this volume with fat tissue taken from your body can provide optimal results which are long-lasting. The process extracts fat cells from a donor site, preferably the love handles or abdomen, and relocates them to the treatment site under your eyes.
After extraction, the fat is purified in a special centrifuge and injected under the eyes. Once the procedure is complete, surviving fat cells will live and thrive in their new location. Multiple sessions may be necessary because it’s difficult to gauge what percentage of fat transfer will survive.
