Dr. Livingston offers a variety of fillers that are a great option for patients who aren't quite ready for surgical procedures but wish to appear more youthful.

Are Injectable Fillers Right for Me?

Injectable fillers are offered as a minimally invasive alternative to surgical procedures. A semi-permanent method to help facial skin appear more youthful and smoother, injectable fillers can: reduce wrinkles and creases, fill out depressions throughout the face, make lips fuller and improve skin texture. There are numerous types of fillers depending on your needs.

Why Facial Fillers?

During our lifetime, we are exposed to harmful UV rays, which can damage our skin, and we may make lifestyle choices like smoking that have a negative impact on our skin health and appearance.  And while we can control sun exposure and personal habits, there are issues, such as resulting scars from acne breakouts, that we can’t control which also negatively affect our skin’s beauty. To combat these issues, Livingston Plastic Surgery offers dermal fillers that include Juvederm, Radiesse, Voluma, and Volbella to reverse the toll that aging and environmental effects can take on your skin.

As a quick fix to help your facial skin appear more youthful and smoother, face fillers can:

  • Reduce wrinkles and creases (Nasolabial folds)
  • Fill out depressions throughout the face (acne and superficial scars)
  • Make lips fuller
  • Improve skin texture

Depending on your needs and the filler selected to meet your goals, results can last for many months – up to two years!

Facial Fillers Available at Livingston Plastic Surgery

Juvederm

A clear gel formulation, Juvederm acts like your body’s natural hyaluronic acid to correct moderate to severe facial concerns like lines, wrinkles, and folds. Marionette lines (fine lines from mouth to chin) and nasolabial folds are common concerns Juvederm can soften and correct to provide the young-looking facial skin many patients desire.

Radiesse

Radiesse is an injectable face filler which is optimal for wrinkles and lines, like marionette lines about the mouth and chin. It can also be a great treatment for volume loss in the hands. Results are long-lasting, up to a year or more.

Voluma

Juvederm Voluma XC is perfect for adding volume to sunken and drooping cheeks. As skin loses collagen and as soft tissue droops, the midface area looks aged. This happens to many patients and is often one of the first and most highly visible signs of facial aging. Voluma’s gel formula is perfect for lifting and plumping the cheeks. Results from Voluma can last for up to two years, making your touch-up schedule easily manageable.

Volbella

Enjoy full and youthful-looking lips with Juvederm Volbella. This filler is perfect for adding volume to thin, flat, and deflated lips that have developed due to the aging process or are naturally thin and make patients look older than they are. With the skilled application of Volbella at Dr. Livingston’s office, patients enjoy natural results. We never want you to look overtreated or have the dreaded “trout pout” which occurs which filler is over applied. Volbella can also smooth the vertical lines that often form around the lips with age, called smokers’ or lipstick lines.

Facial Fat Transfer

This popular procedure involves extracting natural fat from a donor site, such as the hips or love handles, and grafting it into facial hollows, like the cheeks and under eyes. Results vary from patient to patient, but there is no risk for an allergic reaction, as your biological material is used to restore tissue volume. The effects of fat transfer can be long-lasting or permanent, as the fat can live and thrive in its new location by establishing a blood supply.

What Happens During Your Dermal Filler Procedure?

To start, Dr. Livingston will access skin issues and areas which require rejuvenation to develop a treatment plan that ensures the best results. This plan may combine facial fillers with other skin treatments offered at Jaqueline Skin Care, like chemical peels, and laser resurfacing.

During the procedure, we cleanse the treatment area and apply a topical numbing cream or local anesthetic to ensure comfort. In some cases, the dermal filler may include lidocaine, an aesthetic additive to increase your comfort level.

Areas of concern which require face fillers include:

  • Under the eyes
  • Cheeks
  • Jowls
  • Lips
  • Chin
  • Neck

Each treatment session is comfortable, convenient, quick, and you can return to your daily routine after. With more severe issues like deep hollows, lines, or sagging skin, multiple injections may be necessary. When we complete the treatment, we clean the treatment site and apply ice packs to reduce inflammation, bruising and swelling.

For longer-lasting solutions to restore a youthful facial appearance, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Christopher Livingston may suggest facelift surgery (rhytidectomy), neck lift surgery, eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), or brow lift surgery (forehead lift surgery). Botox is also an option which is popular with our patients.

Your Results with Facial Filler Treatment

Results are immediate. There may be slight swelling and bruising at the injection sites, but these effects should resolve quickly. Your face will look full, with a more pleasing contour and texture. Fat transfers deliver long-lasting results using your natural tissue to add volume to hollows and voids.

Depending on which face filler you choose, results will last from six months to two years.
